We provide access to Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), other terminologies and third party content to support digital health and clinical data sharing alongside SNOMED CT-AU. This allows you to access terminology from a single source to streamline how your applications interact with terminology.

Third party terminologies and code systems

We provide access to LOINC, RCPA resources and other code systems, as well as SNOMED CT-AU, to support digital health and clinical data sharing.

LOINC: a test request and result terminology

LOINC is an international standard for identifying health measurements, observations and documents. It’s relevant for reference labs, healthcare providers, insurance companies, software and device manufacturers and researchers.

Find out more about LOINC.

RCPA SPIA: a pathology terminology and information model

The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) Standardised Pathology Informatics in Australia (SPIA) terminology reference set and information model resources were developed to standardise and improve the recording, decision support, communication and analysis of pathology in Australia.

Find out more about RCPA SPIA.

Other national code systems

We provide access to over 50 code systems that may be used in clinical software to support administrative sections of medical records such as occupations, the Australian Immunisation Register and valid reasons for null values.

You can access these code systems, which support FHIR in an Australian context, through our National Terminology Server.

Have you developed terminology content that isn’t listed here?

If you would like to make your terminology resource or SNOMED CT reference set available nationally, please contact us.
