Reference Sets

Freely browse or search the latest SNOMED CT-AU reference sets to explore content. To support clinicians and other non-technical users, we process the native SNOMED CT RF2 files and publish reference sets in a TSV format. They contain identifiers and descriptions for each concept.

These files are easily imported into common spreadsheet applications. Note that Microsoft Excel may truncate long codes and use strange characters for words with accents (e.g. Ménière’s Diseases). To avoid this, please follow these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Excel
  2. Get & Transform Data From Text/CSV and select your downloaded file
  3. Using the import wizard, specify the following:
    1. File Origin = ‘Unicode (UTF-8)’
    2. Delimiter = ‘Tab’
    3. Data Type = ‘Text’ for any column containing SNOMED CT codes

Developers can access the FHIR JSON and FHIR XML files through our terminology services. To get started, see National Terminology Server.
