Ontoserver

Next-gen FHIR terminology server developed by the Australian e-Health Research Centre, CSIRO. With fast, incremental, and context-specific result ordering, Ontoserver puts SNOMED CT, AMT, LOINC and FHIR-based CodeSystems at your fingertips. The National Terminology Server is our deployment of Ontoserver, hosting national terminology content.

Ontoserver® is a terminology server developed by the CSIRO and designed to make it easy to deploy local terminology services. Features include:

  • fast, incremental search, and context-specific result ordering
  • filtering and re-ranking of search results
  • simplified recording of codes for diagnosis, procedure, and medication
  • RESTful API
  • generation of intensional reference sets and data analytics

It supports multiple versions of SNOMED CT (and extensions), LOINC and other standard terminologies. It also supports the HL7™ FHIR® specification.

It can syndicate with the National Syndication Service so that the latest versions of SNOMED CT-AU and other content are always readily available, and provide its own syndication feed for other Ontoserver instances to consume. It implements the NCTS Conformant Server Applications specification and supports the FHIR profiles in the NCTS Content Types specification.

Ontoserver is available for free for use by registered license holders in Australia. Contact help@digitalhealth.gov.au for further details.
