General FAQs

Questions and answers about the National Clinical Terminology Service.

Why has the NCTS portal been developed?

The Australian Medicines Terminology, SNOMED CT-AU and other national terminologies are being adopted by an expanding sphere of healthcare and related domains, including hospitals, primary care, specialists, community pharmacies, pathology providers, research institutions and government agencies. The NCTS is helping to address the major terminology design and operational challenges faced by these adopters through the provision of additional products and services including a single place to access these resources.

How do I keep updated with the latest from the NCTS?

Refer to News and Events on the Home page. You can also subscribe to the ‘RSS Feed‘ to keep updated with the latest news from NCTS and the Agency.

How do I get help with my implementation?

The NCTS portal includes a comprehensive Document Library with resources to support users in their understanding, implementation and use of our terminology products. We also have a dedicated Product Support team that provide a range of services from general training and education on the terminology through to specific technical support at your workplace. You can request assistance using the online Support Request form or by emailing Help Centre.

How do I submit feedback?

As a user of our terminology products and services, your feedback is critical in ensuring our ongoing development meets the needs of the Australian Healthcare community. Feedback can be submitted on the Support Request form or by emailing the Help Centre.

Does Australia have any representation within the SNOMED International’s governance arrangements?

Australia has representation on the General Assembly, Member Forum and many of its Advisory and Working Groups. Further information can be found in Learn.
